Each path requires analysis. Retention requirements for audit logs align with general medical record retention periods in your jurisdiction, typically 6-10 years depending on state law and patient age. Organizations should also consider longer retention for research and quality improvement purposes, with appropriate de-identification if data is used beyond individual patient care.

Emerging regulatory considerations

The regulatory landscape for healthcare AI is evolving rapidly, with implications for compliance planning.
